What is the best surgery for someone who is obese and wants to lose fat?

What are the best options, surgery wise (the best success rate)?

I have done liposuction many times on different areas as a way of giving patients a "start" on losing more weight. I individualize with each patient--sit down, listen to what bothers them, give them different options, and then formulate a plan to try and achieve what they desire!

There are several wonderful procedures to treat obesity. There are real differences based on the patient's desires, other conditions (comorbidities), and the patient's tolerance to specific concessions/post-operative scenarios. Check with the bariatric providers in your community and compare the procedures they apply to your specific conditions.

Thank you for asking. This is a great question. See your primary care doctor and a bariatric surgeon to discuss. A bariatric surgeon is a general surgeon who handles obesity procedures. This is not done by the plastic surgeon. After significant weight loss, a plastic surgeon can help with body and face contouring to complete the weight loss journey. Best wishes!
