Gastric bypass has been found to decrease the risk and the medical management of type 2 diabetes. Weight loss has been shown to help with insulin resistance, and therefore post-bariatric weight loss can help with this. One of the main prerequisites for gastric bypass is in fact type 2 diabetes.

Gastric bypass/lap band surgery is extremely beneficial. Within a short period of time, diabetes is improved if not eliminated as is hypertension and cardiac problems reversed!
