When I was about 2-3 yrs old my left hand middle finger tip got cut in the door. Ever since my middle finger and and the index finger are about the same size. The nail on the finger is bent forward. I wondering if there was a procedure to fix this?
Yes, there is! Over 30 years ago, a flap was designed by Dr. Ergodan Atasoy at the Kleinert Kutz Institute. Combining this flap with special pins that are temporarily used to support the nail, called "the antenna procedure," became the gold standard for restoring soft tissue to the fingertip and lifting the nail. Dr. Tsu Minh Tsai, also of the Kleinert Institute, refined this in 1983. I was a Hand Fellow at the Kleinert Institute at that time. I have promoted this advancement flap since that time, having done hundreds of these with absolutely no failures. Over the past 26 years, there have been very few refinements to this procedure because it works so well. It is an outpatient procedure that takes only about an hour. You sound like a good candidate for this.
