I had an appendicitis 8 years ago. Now I have a large scar on my stomach and I would like it removed. I don't know what surgery I would need...
Scars are forever. That being said, there are a number of interventions that can be employed to treat such things as unfavorable color, contour, and quality. These include injections, laser therapy, and excisional scar revision.
With regards to your specific question, there is no way to remove the scar. However, it can replaced with a potentially more favorable scar under more controlled circumstances (than an emergency laparotomy).
As always, discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Scars cannot be totally removed, but can be improved with scar revision. I strongly recommend my patients use ScaRxtape after their procedures.
