How much does hair replacement cost? Baldness runs in my family and my hair line is now receding.

I use the new FUE system of individual hair transpants without removing a strip of hair. The charges vary and the more grafts that are transplanted the less the costs starting at about $ per graft. I do this in my certified operating room. It does take many hours here but under predominantly a local anesthetic. About couple of days before you can start showering.
Normally, I have the patient send me a photo of what they want and we can give them an estimate about how many grafts.

The number of grafts needed will be determined by what a patients goals may be. Hairline restoration vs. adding density to a thinning crown will necessitate different counts. Addressing both will often times require multiple procedures.

A good rule of thumb is that 1200-1500 grafts will be needed to restore a receding hairline. 2000 grafts will add reasonable density to an area of the crown about the size of a compact disc.

Procedures are typically priced on a per graft basis. Costs will vary from practitioner to practitioner and region to region. Each graft can cost anywhere from $3-5.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.
