LipoDissolve is a procedure that involves micro-injections of a formulation consisting of two naturally occurring chemicals, phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, into the fatty areas. These chemicals act like detergents and have the ability to break down fat. This broken down fat is then removed by the body’s lymphatic system. This process takes time.
Areas that can be treated with LipoDissolve include:
- Face (i.e. the cheeks, midface and lower eye pads)
- Breasts (for men with excess breast tissue)
Though LipoDissolve can be performed within 45 minutes in an office or clinical setting, the procedure should be conducted by a physician to prevent complications. It can take one to four sessions to achieve desired results, and this largely depends on the area being treated—a larger area, such as the hips and thighs, will require more sessions than say the chin and neck. For multiple sessions, each session will have to be spaced out over a period of four to six weeks. Generally, two to three large areas can be treated in one session.
Most patients show a loss of at least 2-6 centimeters of fat per treatment, with the highest fat loss occurring in the waist/belly and the lowest occurring in the legs.
Some individuals experience mild bruising at the injection site, swelling, tenderness and a burning sensation. These symptoms generally last up to one week. The swelling and tenderness does increase with the volume of injection, and this is a limiting factor for therapy. Also, while the fat that is removed is gone for good, new fat cells can develop in the area if you gain weight or fail to continue an exercise regimen.
As for when you will see results, it will be gradual, occurring over a few months. Smaller treatment areas are noticeably different within a few weeks, while larger areas take longer.
