Cheek Implant Surgery

A cheek implant can produce some amazing results in a person’s self confidence and their outlook on life. Plastic surgeons use cheek implants to lift and enhance the appearance of the cheeks. Sometimes a more mature person may want to have a cheek implant as part of a more extensive face lift to help restore a more youthful look. These implants will help to bring all the facial features into balance so that a person can feel better about the way they look.

The Cheek Implant Procedure

Cheek implant surgery is a relatively short procedure, usually taking less than an hour. Of course, it can take longer when these implants are part of a more extensive facelift. However, for the cheek implants alone a small incision is made either on the inside of the upper lip or the lower eyelid. This forms a pocket and the implant is then inserted. Once the surgery is complete, depending on the location of the incision, a dressing is applied to help reduce swelling and discomfort.

Cheeck Implant Recovery

Recovery and the extent of pain can depend on whether or not there are any other cosmetic procedures at the time of the cheek implant. The plastic surgeon will give post-operative instructions and possibly prescribe pain medication depending on the individual’s specific circumstances. If the incisions for the implants are inside the mouth the stitches will usually dissolve after about two weeks.

How Much Will a Cheek Implant Cost?

As with any cosmetic surgery, a cheek implant can be somewhat expensive. It not only includes the surgeon’s fees, but operating room and hospital stay costs as well. Financing may be available for this procedure, making the total cost more manageable for your budget. Ultimately it comes down to how strongly you feel about your appearance and the improvements you want to make

What are the Risks with a Cheek Implant?

It is rare for problems to occur with cheek implants but, as with any surgery, they are possible. A cheek implant can shift slightly causing the need for a second surgery to current the problem. There is a slight risk of infection which may require antibiotics or the temporary removal of the implants. Your cosmetic surgeon will inform you of these risks before hand so you can make an informed decision and decide if a cheek implant is right for you.
