Leg Implants For Men

Leg implants for men are intended to increase the size and shape of the calf muscles. Men and women both can receive calf implants, but for different reasons. For men, implants are a way to emphasize the size of the leg muscle. It can be difficult for a male athlete for body builder to achieve a calf muscle that is in the correct proportion to the thigh muscle which usually grows at a larger rate. Leg implants are a great way to improve the size of this difficult to tone muscle group.

The Procedure

Leg implants are made of a soft, solid silicone. Each leg will require one or two implants depending on the desired results. These leg implants for men will be inserted within the back of the leg where the knee creases. First there is a preoperative visit where your legs will be measured to determine the right size of implants. These implants will be chosen on this visit and will be prepared for the surgery. When the day of the operation comes, you will be given general anesthesia and placed on your stomach.

Recovery Time

After the leg implants have been inserted, the surgeon will suture the incisions. The recovery time for this procedure can be divided into both short term recovery and long term recovery. The short term recovery may take about a week. This is basically the recovery for the surgery itself. During the first two days, the patient should lie down with legs elevated. They may walk short distances. The long term recovery usually begins a couple weeks after surgery. During this time, you should still refrain from vigorous activity such as weightlifting, running, cycling, etc. These activities may be performed again in about a month or so.

Finding the Right Surgeon

Finding a surgeon that performs leg implants for men may not be too difficult, but finding a good surgeon very well may be. You need a surgeon that performs these operations at least once a month so they will have had plenty of practice. This is important because there are risks involved. For example, an implant may shift making one leg look much different than the other. It is also the surgeon who will be crafting the implant; if he or she does a poor job it will not look natural. As you can see, it is very important that you have a skilled surgeon perform the operation.
