Cost of Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure in which your surgeon will help shape your body by removing fat from areas that are resistant to weight loss.  Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic procedures, but cost can sometimes be a deterrent for patients who are otherwise great candidates for this type of procedure.  Your surgeon will discuss with you how much a necessary procedure will cost and also financing options.

What Happens During Liposuction?

Liposuction is usually done in a surgical suite and the patient will return home the same day.  In one of the most common liposuction techniques, your surgeon will inject the area to be treated with a combination of saline solution, a medication that acts as a numbing agent and a medication that is used to stop bleeding.  After injecting this into the body, the surgeon will make small incisions and remove extra tissue and fat with a small tube called a canula.

What are the Risks of Liposuction?

Even though liposuction is a common procedure, it is not without risks.  Patients might experience:

  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Excessive swelling
  • Blood clots
  • Reaction to the anesthesia that is used

Recovery After Liposuction?

The recovery process depends on the area that was treated.  Generally complete recovery after liposuction can take up to a month or six weeks.  Most people are able to return to most of their normal activities after several days.

Liposuction Surgery Costs

Liposuction rates vary depending on your surgeon and of course which part of your body was treated.  Some price ranges depending on parts of the body are as follows:

  • Abdomen (upper and lower): $3000-7500
  • Arms: $1500-5000
  • Breasts: $3000-7500
  • Buttocks: $1500-5000
  • Hips/waist: $1600-5000

Consult with a Professional

If you think that you are a good candidate for liposuction, you should see your cosmetic surgeon for a consultation.  He will be able to discuss with you the procedure as well as options for payment and financing.
