Whiteheads

Whiteheads are a form of acne. Like other types of acne, whiteheads are created due to a buildup of oils in the skin, which creates a warm environment for bacteria to flourish. The bacteria feed off the dead skin cells of the skin. The body then reacts to the infection by attacking it, which leads to further clogging of the pores. They are tiny, white raised spots on the skin, generally small and pearl shaped. Although the cause is somewhat unknown, most dermatologists suggest that whiteheads are caused by the buildup and hardening of sebum, or oil, in the skin.
