The term transgender children is used to describe those individuals who have a self identity of another sex than what they are physically represented. Gender identity is not the same as physical gender in that a person may feel as if he or she is another gender, or not one at all. Specifically, this term implies that a child is a transgender. There are a number of different opinions in terms of how a child may identify as a male or female, or neither, at their age. However, there is some speculation that the transgender child may dress and act more like the opposite sex.
