The term transgender is used to describe those who have tendencies to diverge from what is considered the normal gender roles. The term is not specific, or all encompassing. Gender identity, a term used to show gender preference or the self identification of a person as a man, woman or neither, does not match the assigned sex of the individual, as defined by his or her physical appearance and body makeup. The term does not imply any specific type of sexual orientation. In the context of cosmetic procedures, a transgender may wish to change his physical appearance to match his gender identity.
