Plastic Surgery After Weight Loss

After experiencing a dramatic amount of weight loss, it's entirely possible for a person to still not feel thin. One cause of this is excess skin that's left over after the weight loss can still hang around as an ugly reminder of the previous condition. This can be a fairly common occurrence after losing a lot of weight quickly through bariatric surgery. All the excess flab can leave a person feeling just as depressed and insecure as when they were overweight. However, it is possible for a person to receive plastic surgery after weight loss to help curb this problem.

Laproscopic Weight Loss Surgery

Millions of people worldwide suffer from obesity that can be crippling and possibly life threatening. Sometimes, weight problems can be traced to eating disorders, or simply incredibly unhealthy lifestyles. Regardless of the causes, obesity can be a dangerous cycle that's very difficult to break - as a person gets more obese, exercise and avoiding overeating become harder. However, if the obesity problem isn't corrected, death is a very real possibility. One possible solution to this problem is laproscopic weight loss surgery.

Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is one of the most popular types of surgery that is currently available, allowing the patient to lose weight almost immediately and become more attractive almost overnight. With gastric bypass, liposuction and abdominoplasty available for the patient to choose from, there is almost no end to the available weight loss surgeries that can allow the patient to remove unsightly body fat almost immediately.

Lap-Band Surgery

The idea behind Lap-Band surgery is to create a controlled and adjustable small pouch in the upper part of the stomach thus limiting food intake and inducing weight loss. The anatomy of the stomach is not altered in any way, unlike other procedures.

Duodenal Switch

The weight loss surgical procedure known as duodenal switch involves a combination of the fairly common practice of restrictive gastrointestinal surgeries, with some important malabsorptive elements.  However, because the duodenum pathway from the stomach into the small intestine is left in place, many nutrients that are still needed by patients are absorbed in a more normal fashion.

Gastric Sleeve

The gastric sleeve procedure is only for people with a body mass index of greater than 60 or more, as the risks of a gastric bypass are too great.

The gastric sleeve helps patients reduce their weight considerably 40 percent of the time. If these patients change their eating habits, they may not even need a second surgery. If it is necessary to perform a second surgery, such as a gastric band or gastric bypass, the patient will have to wait 18 months.

An Overview of Gastric Bypass Surgery

If you are extremely overweight and exercise and dieting have not helped, gastric bypass can greatly improve the quality of life not only by improving your appearance and increasing your mobility, but also by reducing health problems caused by obesity like diabetes and heart or circulation problems. Gastric bypass surgery is for people with extreme, intractable weight problems, not for people with a slight cosmetic cellulite problem.

Gastric Banding: Weight loss surgery when nothing else works

A gastric band is a silicone belt that goes around the top of the stomach, controlling its shape and thereby allowing you to control your hunger and feel full. The gastric band is adjustable and connected to a port that can be inflated over time to speed up weight loss. It may have some impact on cellulite as well.

Bariatric Surgery – Attain Healthy Weight

Bariatric surgery works to change the size of a person’s stomach, thereby limiting the amount of food he can eat and digest.  Because the stomach size is made dramatically smaller during surgery, a person loses weight simply because he is not capable of eating the quantity of food he previously ate.

Weight Loss Surgery: For Vanity and Good Health

Weight loss surgery, also referred to as Bariatric surgery or gastrointestinal surgery, comprises a range of surgical procedures designed to alleviate severe obesity in patients. These procedures include stomach bypass, stomach stapling, stomach balloon or lap band surgery and even ear stapling surgery. The main reason for undergoing weight loss surgery should not be purely for the sake of vanity, but for the sake of good health.
