The Latest Rage: Plastic Surgery Parties

Coming soon to your hometown - a plastic surgery party (at least if you live in New York) . . .This article in the New York Times highlights a recent "trend" in plastic surgery marketing - the Tupperware party meets the School Health Fair.

Plastic surgeons on Long Island have started holding evening events, where interested women can attend and sample the goods.  According to the article "The event attracted about 200 people, mostly women, paying $20 apiece; it cost about $12,000. Dr. Greenberg described it as “like a bar mitzvah.” It had an open bar, a disc jockey and performers on stilts during cocktail hour. The dinner buffet included carving, pasta and dim sum stations."

I have to admire the marketing innovation of these plastic surgeons . . . its a pretty interesting way to differentiate yourself in a competitive market and have fence-sitters learn  more in a non-threatening, fun environment.
