Laser Eyelid Surgery

Laser eyelid surgery is gaining in popularity not only among patients but doctors as well. Blepharoplasty can be done either with a scalpel or laser. Many doctors prefer laser since it seems to result in less bleeding when the cut is made. The surgery itself takes between one and three hours to complete. As with traditional Blepharoplasty, excess fat, tissue and muscle are removed and the incision is stitched up. Sometimes the sutures need to be removed and other times, doctors use the kind that dissolve over time. Recovery time is said to be less with the laser procedure and there also appears to be less of a chance of scarring. The results of the surgery may not be completely noticeable until 2 months or so after the surgery. They eye area is a very sensitive spot. The skin is very thin so bruising and swelling may take several weeks to dissipate. You should discuss which type of eyelid surgery your chosen doctor does. You may or may not have a preference but your doctor might. Consider all options carefully. You should have complete confidence in your doctor, just as you would want when undergoing any surgery.
