Labia Surgery
Labia surgery is often sought out by women in order to reduce the size of either their labia majora, labia minora, or both. Childbirth or even genetics can sometimes cause a woman's labia to become elongated, and in some cases the elongated labia may be a source of pain and discomfort, especially in regard to sexual activity or exercise. In this case, a woman may decide to undergo labia surgery in order to reduce the size of her enlarged labia. This procedure remains controversial among many doctors, who feel that too many women are succumbing to outside pressure to look "perfect," leading them to develop unhealthy body images. Some doctors feel that if there is not a practical medical reason to reduce the size of the labia, then it should be left alone.
