Genital Reconstruction Surgery

Genital reconstruction surgery is often performed on those with gender identity surgery. The purpose of genital reconstruction surgery is to allow a person to have sex organs that they feel comfortable with and that correspond to what their idea of their body image is. Men who identify with the opposite gender may feel like women trapped inside women's bodies and vice versa, and they may seek out surgery in order to make the outside correspond with the inside. Genital reconstruction surgery can be used to create breasts and vaginas on men, or to remove breasts and create penises on biological females. Though these surgeries remain controversial, they may prove to have psychological benefits for the right people, allowing them to lie out their lives in bodies that they feel comfortable with.
