Co2 Laser
For those suffering the embarrassment and frustration of fine wrinkles and acne scars, there is good news. Laser treatments now promise to remove them from most skin types. There are three types of laser skin resurfacing treatments: CO2, erbium, and Nlite. Of the three, CO2 laser procedures are more thorough, eliminate deeper wrinkles and acne scars, are more expensive, and entail more healing time. Both the CO2 and erbium treatments vaporize the skin surrounding the blemish and stimulate the production of collagen, which tends to smooth and tighten the skin. Nlite laser treatments are less expensive and generally have virtually no healing time, but they have proven to be far less effective. However, as with any type of plastic surgery, there can be side effects such as pain, redness, swelling, scarring, and a change in pigmentation. Choosing a board-certified plastic surgeon may help avoid many of these risks.
