Cheeks That Sag
A condition of sagging cheeks can be the result of age and/or sun damage to the skin. Both factors act to weaken the collagen and elastic fibers beneath the surface of the skin. This sagging skin often becomes more pronounced on the neck and cheeks. Plastic surgery offers several options to address the problem. These can be permanent or short-term. Plastic surgery to correct sagging cheeks can be invasive or non-invasive. The means can be surgical or non-surgical. The choice of treatment is up to the individual and should be made in consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon. Among the possible procedures are polylactic acids and hyaluronic acids. These are soft tissue fillers. Alternatively, the surgeon can perform a partial facelift or mini-facelift to tighten the skin on the cheeks. A facelift offers a permanent solution while soft tissue fillers may require several treatments.
