Areolar

Areolar is a form of connective tissue that hold organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other tissues. Areolar is a pliable tissue found in nearly every area of the body. Areolar tissue can be found in the muscles and surrounding blood vessels and nerves. Areolar tissue is especially important because it allows blood vessels to interface with the epithelium. Areolar tissue has a wide range of appearances. It can be collagenous but it can also contain reticular and elastic fibers. Areolar tissue is the most broadly distributed connective tissue found in vertebrates. Areolar tissue is located in the dermis and also underneath the epithelial tissue of body systems with external openings; this is why the dark area of skin around nipples in known as the areola.
