Inner Thigh Liposuction
Liposuction was once thought to be a very extreme measure to move the excess fat that a person may have in various parts of their body. In decades past, only the rich and famous could afford to find plastic surgeons willing to remove these fatty stores and bring a more attractive look and feel to the patient's body. Today, however, liposuction has become a very common procedure and is used by patients representing a wide variety of demographics. These patients are united by their common desire to leave behind ugly stores of fatty cells and reclaim a sleeker more attractive appearance. Inner thigh liposuction is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedure.
What is Inner Thigh Liposuction?
Inner thigh liposuction is a procedure where a plastic surgeon locates, isolates and removes deposits of fat cells in order to create a firmer look for a patient's inner thighs. Fatty cell deposits can often not only make a patient's legs look unattractive, but can also cause physical discomfort when the fatty cells cause inner thighs to rub together. The friction caused by this rubbing can lead to inner thighs becoming chafed and painful to the touch. In order to take away both physical discomfort and improve appearance, inner thigh liposuction is performed on quite a routine basis.
How is Inner Thigh Liposuction Performed?
When a patient elects to undergo inner thigh liposuction, the plastic surgeon first evaluates them to determine where fatty deposits are located and how they can best be reduced or removed to create a more attractive appearance for the patient's legs. A small incision is then made beneath the skin and a cannula is inserted. A cannula is a hand-held device that consists of a handle gripped by the surgeon, a shaft with holes to collect fatty cells, and a tip to guide the device throughout the area beneath the skin. The plastic surgeon will then carefully move the cannula back and forth to isolate and sweep away or reconstruct the fatty cell deposits. Once the cannula is removed, a few stitches may be required to close the incision point. After resting for a short time, the patient will be able to show off their new, sleeker appearance!
What About Excess Skin?
In most cases, skin elasticity allows the skin to contract over the new, smaller shape of the inner thighs. In some cases, however, skin tucks may have to be performed to either remove or reduce the sight of excess skin.
