Lip Augmentation

Using Lip Augmentation to Remove Wrinkles

The number of women, and men, seeking lip augmentation has grown over the past few years. While many women have received lip augmentation in an effort to get fuller lips, quite a few have gone through the cosmetic procedure for an entirely different reason. Lip augmentation can reduce the appearance of wrinkles giving a woman a more youthful appearance.

Understanding the Lip Augmentation Process

Before getting lip augmentation it is important that a woman learns about the process. After you have undergone an initial consultation and allergy test your cosmetic surgeon will give you a local anesthesia to make the procedure painless. After that filler will be injected into the lips to make them seem fuller while removing wrinkles. The most common fillers used are collagen and botox. In most cases the procedure should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.

Recovery after Lip Augmentation

The lip augmentation surgery is usually painless with a relatively short recovery period. The plastic surgeon performing the procedure will have the best idea of what to expect recovery wise. Many people who have lip augmentation to remove wrinkles will often experience swelling for several hours after the procedure. This swelling usually goes down after a few hours and some people experience numbness.

Price of Lip Augmentation

Aesthetic surgery of any kind is never cheap so be prepared to pay for your wrinkle free lips. The cost of most collagen or Botox injections can be as much as $400 and the cosmetic surgeon will often charge their own fee that can range up to $1,200. Since lip augmentation is purely voluntary in most cases insurance companies will not pay for it. Their are financing options for cosmetic surgery and some surgeons will even help arrange payment plans, but this is usually done at the surgeon’s discretion.

Lip Augmentation Risks

Like all cosmetic surgeries there are risks associated with it. One of the largest risks women and men who receive lip augmentation face is an allergic reaction. There are some people who are allergic to collagen and other substances injected during the lip augmentation procedure. This is why it is extremely important to test for allergies prior to the procedure. Another risk that many people face is the risk that the lip augmentation will not last once it is completed. While this might not seem too dangerous to some people, it can be extremely upsetting to pay for results that only last two months.
