Procedure
The Thermage procedure is conducted using the Thermacool hand tool which emits radiofrequency energy and heat to the skin. To protect surface skin, a cooling spray is delivered before, during and after each touch of the Thermacool tip in order to make sure you don’t experience any discomfort. Your doctor will also likely apply an anesthetic cream to the affected area after the procedure. Treatments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, and are performed in your dermatologist’s office, surgical clinic, and other out patient facility. You may require repeated treatment to get the look you want, but Thermage results are immediate, but will progress over the following two months, especially with recurring treatments.
Cost
The average Thermage treatment typically costs from $1000 to $5000 depending on the size of the area to be treated. Contact a cosmetic dermatologist in your area to ask about their fees and financing options.
Recovery
There is no special after care required after a Thermage treatment. You may experience some redness and minor swelling in the treated area, but this should subside within a few hours and patients can return to normal activity.
Risk
As this is a non-invasive procedure, there are few risks involved in Thermage skin treatment. Potential side effects may include swelling, blistering and redness. Take the time to carefully review with your doctor what the risks may be for you.
