Cellulite Treatments

Cellulite is a condition that affects 90 percent of women, and it results in those lumps, bumps and wrinkles that give the skin that orange peal appearance. Amazingly, very few men develop cellulite due to their thicker skin and smaller fat cell structure. Women have resorted to untold and largely ineffective cellulite treatments.

The Procedure

Endermologie became the first FDA approved treatment for temporarily reducing the appearance of cellulite. It is a non-surgical method that uses a combination of suction and rollers that improve blood flow to the affected area and, with successive treatments, can smooth the orange peel look of cellulite. Maintaining a healthy diet and regular excise are an important part of the endermologie process. The only down side to this form of treatment is that it requires ongoing sessions that can get expensive.

Mesotherapy uses medication as a method to reduce cellulite. Tiny needles are used to inject the medication into the mesoderm layer of the skin. This liquefies the fat which is then absorbed by the body and eliminated through the kidneys. Mesotherapy reduces cellulite without surgery, leaves no scarring and, since it is non-invasive, there is no down time from your daily routine.

Electrotherapy is often used by spas as a painless and relaxing way to help remove cellulite. It applies a small electric current to the affected area. An hour of electrotherapy is said to be equal to about six hours of physical activity. Electrotherapy can be used on almost any part of the body including thighs, buttocks, upper arms, breasts, abdomen, and even the chin or anywhere pockets of cellulite might develop.

Virtually No Recovery Time

The great thing about cellulite treatments is that since most procedures are non-invasive and no cutting is involved, there's almost no risk of infection or other complications. This means no pain and you can go right back to your daily routine once the treatment is over. You won't have to miss work or remain inactive for a long period of time.

The Cost of Cellulite Treatments

Cellulite treatments can be expensive, mainly due to the fact that they require successive or ongoing treatments. When considered on a per-treatment basis and when compared to cosmetic surgery, cellulite treatments can be considered very reasonable.

What are the Risks?

Since most cellulite treatments are non-surgical it's safe to say there are rarely any risks involved. There may be some redness at the treatment site, but this will disappear fairly quickly. Cellulite treatments may be the way to go if you want to get rid of those lumps, bumps, and wrinkles.
